
Borris Maelezo
Secretary General of RRAS
He holds a Master's degree (DEA, Diploma in Advanced Studies) in Gender, Peace, and Security from the Kofi Annan University Peacekeeping Training Center in collaboration with GHANA GIMPA (Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration) in Accra, Republic of Ghana. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in English and a Postgraduate Diploma in English Language and English Cultures.
As an independent researcher in conflict resolution, he works in the field of peace and security. He is an expert in Conflict Analysis and Mediation, and an expert in Demobilization, Disarmament, and Community Reintegration.
Hon. Borris Maelezo Alabu completed United Nations Officer Training and advanced training in intercultural communication with the University of Bedfordshire, The Business School. He successfully completed training in Gender Operationalization in Peacekeeping Operations with the New Zealand Ministry of Defense, etc.
He was elected National Member of Parliament in 2011 in the Beni Territory constituency. During his term, he served on the Defense and Security Committee and was Vice-President of the Civil Protection Subcommittee in the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Prior to this, he worked at International Rescue Committee (IRC) (2009) and within the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Congo (MONUSCO) in 2007. Shortly before that, he served the nation as a lecturer at the Kamango Institute in the Watalinga Chiefdom (1997) and the Luanoli Institute (2004).
Currently working as an Independent Researcher, Hon. Borris MAELEZO is among the initiators of the BENI USALAMA Consortium, which brings together Ubuntu Panafrika asbl, Hon. Maelezo's office, and SECAS/North Kivu, which is currently implementing the project "Jiwe langu kwa Usalama wa Beni," which means "MY STONE FOR BUILDING PEACE IN THE BENI REGION," to combat acts of terrorism in the Beni Territory in the Watalinga Chiefdom. Pilot area. Hon. Borris Maelezo is a member of the Steering Committee of the Rethinking Security in Africa Network (RSAN).
He serves as Secretary General of RRAS.
